Neil Phillips - Director

Mini Bio: Neil was born and educated locally in Telford. After gaining a degree in Accountancy at Exeter University he trained as a Chartered Accountant in Bristol with Coopers & Lybrand, predominantly looking after owner-managed businesses . After some years as a partner with another Telford-based firm and with a Birmingham firm, Neil joined Phillips Chartered Accountants in 2000. Neil is responsible for the overall running of the company and is a keen participant of a number of business networking clubs in Shropshire.
Did you know? Neil enjoys athletics and has completed the London Marathon four times. Neil is a Trustee of Birchfield Harriers and he appears in the 1983 edition of the Guinness Book of Records for the fastest walk along the length of Ireland.

Joanne Brayne - Senior Manager

Mini Bio: Joanne is a Fellow of the ACCA and joined the firm in 2001 after gaining experience with other Telford-based accountancy firms. Joanne is extremely experienced in dealing with owner-managed businesses and specialises in taxation and accountancy services. Joanne’s mixed portfolio of clients include caravan dealers, cylinder manufacturers, printers, Chartered Surveyors and a belly-dancer.

Julie Fox - Payroll Manager

Mini Bio: Julie is a Fellow Member of the AAT and is the firm’s Payroll Manager. After having originally joined the firm in 2001, Julie left to relocate to Skegness and rejoined the firm in 2009 after relocating back to Telford. Julie provides weekly and monthly payroll services and general payroll support to the firm’s clients.
Did you know? Julie enjoys canal boat holidays, walking and photography and is a former piano-teacher and Church organist.

Sukhjinder Kaur - Assistant Manager

Mini Bio: Sukhjinder joined the firm in 2008 after gaining a First Class Honours Degree in Accountancy and Finance and she is nearing the completion of her ACCA exams. Sukhjinder has excellent experience of accounts, auditing and taxation and is familiar with Sage, Quickbooks and Kashflow accounts software packages. Sukhjinder is fluent in Punjabi and can understand Hindi.
Did you know? In her spare time Sukhjinder enjoys cooking, tennis and reading and is a fan of Manchester United.

Gemma Tomlinson - Accounts Senior

Mini Bio: Gemma joined the firm in 2008 after many years experience of preparing Sage accounts for one of our long-standing clients. Gemma provides Sage training and support as well as preparing monthly or quarterly management accounts for a number of clients. Gemma also provides regular payroll support for our payroll clients and also has extensive experience of assisting on audit assignments and preparing VAT and personal tax returns.
Did you know? Gemma keeps fit by going to the gym and walking and when she is not travelling on Shanks’ Pony you are likely to see her venturing out on a motorbike to meet up with friends.

Kara Wood - Trainee

Mini Bio: Kara is a fully qualified member of the AAT and a graduate of Staffordshire University where she gained an upper second degree in Accountancy and Business. Kara is currently in the first year of her studies for the ACCA qualification. Her work at Phillips includes assisting on audits and with the preparation of accounts and VAT returns and Kara also provides additional payroll support to our clients.

Mini Bio: Katie is the firm’s receptionist and office administrator. As well as her administrative duties Katie assists with the filing of annual returns and other Companies House forms for the firm’s clients.
